Profile

Gavin has nearly thirty years of global experience across many sectors, with an emphasis on cross-border business and intellectual property issues. His experience includes corporate transactions, such as acquisitions, financings, licensing and divestitures and managing intellectual property holdings. Gavin has also advised clients on business issues with a special emphasis on regulatory, intellectual property and due diligence matters.

Gavin is a former U.S. patent attorney and a Canadian trademark agent. He has significant experience in life sciences, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and nutritional supplement matters. Prior to co-founding Magyar, Bogle, O’Hara, Gavin was General Counsel at Iovate, a mid-sized private Canadian company; Patent Counsel at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge MA; Senior Patent Attorney at Genetics Institute in Cambridge MA; and a patent attorney at a major New York IP firm. Gavin also held a clerkship at the Tax Court of Canada.

As of March 1, 2024, Gavin works on trademark matters and intellectual property strategy through Bogle Strategic IP Services, and is no longer engaged in the private practice of law and does not provide legal advice to clients.

Gavin has been a frequent speaker at international and domestic conferences on Canadian-American cross-border issues as well as issues pertaining to intellectual property due diligence and acquisitions.
